The Functional Medicine Approach

“As a catalyst in the transformation of healthcare, functional medicine takes a comprehensive, whole health approach to prevention, health, and well-being; treats root causes of disease; and restores healthy function through a personalized patient experience — all while being a vital partner to conventional medicine.”

About Georganne

I am a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach (through the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy in collaboration with the Institute of Functional Medicine). I am also a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach. Functional Medicine, the foundation of my approach, concentrates on the root causes of illness and wellness through nutrition, behavior, and lifestyle modification.

I am not a physician and do not prescribe medications or supplements. I make detailed suggestions regarding diet and cooking, lifestyle, and behavior that may be reviewed by your medical practitioner(s) for possible implementation. I do not accept insurance.

My background includes 30+ years of experience in cancer and nutrition research and medical analysis. I worked as a Senior Research Associate (or as a consultant) with Dr. Bruce Ames and the late Dr. Lois Gold on the Carcinogenic Potency Project at the University of California, Berkeley, over the twenty-five-year course of the project.

I co-authored over a dozen peer-reviewed papers and the majority of a book with Drs. Ames and Gold on environmental and dietary carcinogens. I contributed to a paper by Dr. Rhonda Patrick and Dr. Bruce Ames on the effects of vitamin D and Omega 3 deficiency in relation to a wide range of neuropsychiatric conditions, including ADHD, depression, and bipolar disorder.

Over the past 15 years, I have consulted with clients, focusing on diet, lifestyle, and behavior changes to help prevent, lessen, or possibly reverse a variety of health conditions. I use my extensive research background and my connections to other researchers and practitioners in the field to bring you the most current and well-vetted approaches to addressing health concerns.
